Game Week 26 Pre-Match Review

Game Week 26 Pre-Match Review

As we head into another busy week of Premier league football I have picked out the following games which could surprise some fans.

Man City vs West Ham (Sat 27th Feb 12:30pm)

This is a big game for both teams. West Ham have been playing really well of late and managed to grind out a good win against London rivals Spurs. The victory kept Hammers on track for Champions League football and will give them belief heading to the Etihad stadium.

Despite most expecting a City victory, West Ham’s work rate as a team shouldn’t go unnoticed. Mixing in the excellent form of players like Craig Dawson, Tom Soucek, Declan Rice and Jesse Lingard will cause City a few problems. Tactically David Moyes will have them playing very compact and will be relying on the attacking ability of Soucek and Lingard finding space and catching City on the counter. Any team coming away from the Etihad with a point or a rare win will need an element of luck, grit and determination. No doubt West Ham will have to play at their best collectively however let’s not forget this City team aren’t invincible and can be beaten. Rewind back to Sept last year and they were beaten formidably at home by a Leicester City team who has similar qualities to the hammers. I feel West Ham will want it more and it will surprise many with a 2-1 victory.

Leicester vs Arsenal (Sun 28th Feb 12:00pm)

Another early kick off another big game. Leicester will be hugely disappointed by their Europa League exit mid-week. The team looked tired and short of ideas very similarly to how their season ended last campaign. Are the wheels starting to come off for Brendan Rodgers team? Arsenal in contrast were fortunate to go through to the last 16 of the Europa League. They had to wait for their captain Aubameyang to get a last-minute winner to send them through. These types of victory can bring the team together. This will be Arsenal biggest game of the season for me. If they win here this will give them encouragement of salvaging a European place through the league, however lose this and their only hope of being back in Europe next season will be winning the Europa League which still has some very good teams in it. The recent return to form of captain Aubameyang is crucial, mix in the grit and determination of Tierney and boy wonder Saka, Arsenal could really hurt a wounded Leicester City. Again, I’m going with another away win so it will be 3-1 to the Arsenal.

Chelsea vs Man United (Sun 28th Feb 4:30pm)

Chelsea vs Man United is always a big game however I feel this will be a cagey affair, a game which both teams won’t want to lose. Both teams will have some serious talent on show particularly Timo Werner whose performance will be scrutinised even more. The Germans sluggish start has seriously hampered Chelsea’s progression under previous manager Frank Lampard and now Thomas Tuchel. These types of big games can really make or break a player and I feel this is Werner biggest opportunity to show the club and its fans he is here to stay. I’m expecting the inform Mason Mount to link up well with Werner and cause a frail United back line serious problems. United have been lucky at times and their biggest weakness their defence tends to be bailed out by their offensive players. As both teams will be happy for a point I am going with 1-1 draw.
